The Ember Gods by Andrea Pearson

Jacob is so incredibly busy between proving himself in basketball, school, extra work in math, fighting lessons, pulling people out of the scented air, planning how to get Aloren out of Maivoryl City, and reading Dmitri’s journal. Now that he has the Key of Kilenya he figures it would be easy to go and get Aloren, but he keeps being told to wait until The Fat Lady’s potion is complete so a group can go all together.

In this second installment of the Key of Kilenya series, The Ember Gods, we got to read about Jacob being pulled between Eklaron and Earth and his two very different lives. He finally learned just why the Makalos kept telling him to finish reading the journal. This book was just as good as the first one. My 8 and 10-year-olds and I all enjoyed it a lot. I highly recommend the entire Key of Kilenya series to both kids and adults. The Ember Gods makes a great family read aloud (but read the first book first!).
